Hiba Shaqra, an exceptional undergraduate student in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, conducted her research under the guidance of Dr. Ekaterina Semenova. This year, Hiba graduated with the Highest Honors and received the prestigious Henry Rutgers Scholar Award for her senior thesis titled "Defining the Specificity of Collateral Damage by Various Cas13 Orthologs."

Hiba will be continuing her education at Weill Cornell Medical School.
