Postdoctoral Research Positions available in the Zander Lab

The Zander Lab at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology is looking for skilled, enthusiastic, and self-driven postdoctoral fellows interested in plant hormone signaling, plant immunity, plant (epi)genomics and/or chromatin biology.

What we do: Our research focusses on the interplay between master transcription factors and the epigenome in plant stress responses (biotic, abiotic or a combination of both).  Emphasis is placed on early regulatory events when transcription factors shape the epigenome and rapidly initiate robust transcriptional networks.  Despite their agronomic importance, spatial information about the genome-wide actions of master transcription factors and the resulting consequences, such as epigenome dynamics, are often diluted and obscured in existing datasets due to bulk measurements. Thus, our ongoing activities in the laboratory are particularly focused on the investigation of early transcription factor-regulated events at cell-type resolution and ultimately at single cell resolution in Arabidopsis and other plant species. Key questions that we try to answer using a well-balanced combination of genetic, proteomic, and genomic tools are:

  • How do master transcription factors rapidly initiate transcriptional networks underlying plant stress responses?
  • How variable are these networks across different cell types and how can they be manipulated?
  • How does transcription factor binding shape the local chromatin environment and vice versa?

Who we are looking for: A motivated and organized individual with a strong background in plant stress responses and/or plant (epi)genomics. Flexibility, teamwork, excellent analytical skills & having the initiative to drive novel projects forward are expected. If you are interested in plant hormones, high-throughput multi-omics profiling, natural variation, temperature responses, chromatin dynamics, assay development or conducting genetic screens, the Zander Lab is the right address.

Where we are: The Laboratory of Mark Zander is part of the Waksman Institute of Microbiology which is located on Busch Campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, right in the middle between New York and Philadelphia. The Waksman Institute of Microbiology is an interdisciplinary research institute devoted to excellence in research.
