International Symposium on Chloroplast Genomics and Genetic Engineering (ISCGGE) is a international conference series focusing on the broad area of chloroplast genomics and genetic engineering, with specific emphasis on the biotechnology potential of the plant chloroplast from a multi-disciplinary perspective.

Positions Available

We are studying the formation of synapses between neurons in the central nervous system. In particular, we are interested in how neurotransmitter receptors are localized to postsynaptic specializations. We are also interested in the modification of synapses during development and in response to growth.

Postdoc candidates would be joining an exciting community of C. elegans and Drosophila labs at Rutgers in New Jersey. Experience in either molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics would be an advantage.

The entire Spirodela genome has been sequenced in SpirodelaBase

SpirodelaBase: Spirodela polyrhiza whole genome sequencing
The SprirodelaBase Project is currently working on a manuscript describing the genome-sequencing project. The raw reads are now available:

Spirodela polyrhiza whole genome sequencing

The entire Spirodela genome has been sequenced by using 454 with 20X coverage and the assembly was of very high quality improved by FPC. We are currently working on a manuscript describing the genome-sequencing project.

The raw reads is now available at

Renovations Complete

2011 has ended with the completion of the newly designed Fermentation Facility. Within the past few years, the facility has upgraded and installed new equipment including two new 1000 liter fermentors and three new 125 liter fermentors. Since the renovations, our capacity has increased by almost 20% in order to satisfy the needs of our clients.
